Will You Pay For Tumblr Highlights?
Tumblr now lets users pay $1 to showcase a post to a wider audience with its new Tumblr Highlights feature.
As he introduced Tumblr Highlights — Tumblr’s newest attempt at monetization, a la sponsored tweets — Tumblr CEO David Karp explained, “Every now and then, a post comes along that’s meant for big things.”
The extra tickbox in the lower right hand corner lets you pay $1 to showcase a post to a wider audience. How wide? Unclear. Worth experimenting with? Maybe.
So as we all know is that there are a lot of ways to get blog post exposure. The results on promoted tweets and Facebook stories are hit and miss, but a well thought-out post on the micro-blogging platform could easily go viral (especially if your brand has a particularly visual aesthetic).
