Evidence: Sex Tape, a rom-com that was basically one big joke about the cloud. When something becomes the basis of a rom-com, you know it’s become prevalent in our everyday lives.

Cloud computing’s 50-year history

But did you know that cloud computing has actually been around since the 1960s? That’s not the setup to a bad joke about hippies liking to work together in harmony; it’s just true. And as cloud storage, cloud networking, and high-tech creative collaborative tools like Google Drive, Adobe Creative Suite, and even our platform here at Contently have become essential to modern newsroom operations, it’s worth taking a look back to see how we got here and how far we’ve come.
