Infographic: The Secret Formula for Creating Shareable Blog Posts
A complaint I hear a lot from other content marketers is clients who want you to make their blog posts go viral. “Dancing cats riding surfboards while high on catnip go viral,” they complain, staring angrily into their happy hour whiskey soda. “Your f*cking blog post isn’t going to go viral.”
On one hand, I feel their pain: If you’re blogging on a standard B2B topic, you’re not going to get a million readers (unless you’re willing to spend a quarter million dollars on Outbrain, or hold Taboola hostageĀ Die Hard-style). But you don’t need a million readers to go viral. I’ve written and edited media articles that went on to get 50,000 readers and thousands of shares, and, in my mind, that qualifies as viral for a relatively niche topic. Or at least as close to viral as we can hope to get.
At Contently, this happens every so often, with many more mini-successes that get shared 500 times or so. How? Well, for starters, we follow many of the tips in the excellent infographic below. (Made by TollFreeForwarding andĀ Gryffin). Check it out:
