Contently, the SoHo-based startup that matches freelancers with brand marketers, is moving beyond its sponsored-content comfort zone to launch a foundation dedicated to, of all things, investigative journalism.
Contently went so far as to call the state of affairs a “crisis of confidence.”
The report, "Study: Sponsored Content Has a Trust Problem," by Contently Editor-in-Chief Joe Lazauskas, was released Wednesday.
With Contently Insights, the company was looking to track every time you’re “stopping at a table, talking to someone, and exchanging business cards.”

Contently also plans to help more photographers, designers, and even video journalists in 2014 as marketers have become interested in “multi-media storytelling, just like newsrooms,” Mr. Snow said.
