People are increasingly turning to social media channels in search of breaking news. While the population more frequently checks newspapers and the television for breaking stories, a large and growing segment are now using social media instead.

About 28% of the population uses social media to find breaking news, while nearly 29% read newspapers and 59.5% watch TV, according to an infographic from Schools.com.
