Protect Your Brand From a Social Media Security Breach [INFOGRAPHIC]

Only two out of the top 10 most-followed accounts on Twitter have not been hacked. Shocked?

Don’t be. Unfortunately hackings are quite common at the top tiers of social media standing. The likes of Facebook, the Dalai Lama, Barack Obama, and Britney Spears have all been hacked, according to an infographic released by VeraCode. The infographic author writes, “With social media more popular than it’s ever been, so are viruses, malware and scams.”

The infographic demonstrates that because people are so connected via social media sites, it’s gotten easier for hackers and scammers to take advantage of the connectedness to spread their content or agenda, making money off people in the process. For brands, an attack can be highly embarrassing, or, as VeraCode says, it “can defame your brand by hitting your followers.”

The infographic shows how missteps were made and what can be done to avoid them. Take a look and see what VeraCode suggests.
