Have you ever clicked on an ad or made a purchase just because a color caught your eye? If so, you’re not alone.
According to a new infographic from TruConversion, a conversion rate optimization platform, 90 percent of product assessment is solely based on color. It shouldn’t be surprising, then, to learn that a company can see a 20 percent increase in conversions by making just one tiny change to its campaign: switching the call-to-action button from green to red.
Slapping bright colors on your ad and calling it a day isn’t necessarily the smartest move, either. It’s important to understand which colors evoke certain emotions that your target audience might respond to. For instance, blue represents trust and reliability, and is favorably received by both men and women. Meanwhile, women respond to purple, which suggests quality, exclusivity, and creativity, but men don’t like the color.
Another important takeaway is not to go color crazy. As the infographic shows, 95 percent of the world’s top 100 brands use only one or two colors in their logos. Just think of McDonald’s iconic yellow and red arches or Target’s red and white bullseye.
