As Editor-in-Chief, you will lead the Contently storytelling efforts across brand, demand, talent and product marketing. You will be the in-house expert and thought leader in the market for all things Content Marketing. You will be the trusted resource where content marketers come to accelerate their marketing prowess, drive qualified leads to the sales, and provide a strong point of view to brands. 

The ability to develop a content strategy while explaining the value and benefit of our products in a clear, compelling, jargon-free way is essential. You should be excited by initiatives from creating witty social graphics to developing a hype video to working on sales enablement assets – all in the same day.

This position calls for a blend of creativity and data-driven decision-making. Strong writing, editing, and brainstorming skills will serve as the foundation for all of the different functions. Reporting to and working closely with the Head of Marketing, you’ll ensure that our educational content brings in qualified leads, boosts customer retention, and continues to showcase Contently as the smartest voice in the industry.

Contently is a remote company but we also have an awesome office and video studio in downtown New York City. You can work from home, from the office, or wherever the wind takes you. While this is a remote job, we give some preference to candidates who are close enough to come to New York to lead video shoots at our studio.

What You’ll Do

  • Be the “content marketing expert” for content marketing experts
  • Improve keyword ranking, SEO, and SERP 
  • Accelerate lead generation through playbooks, webinars, videos, and courses on ContentlyU, our flagship educational hub
  • Lead content production across the website, our publications and newsletters, product marketing, customer communications, and the platform
  • Connect with our audience over all owned social channels and email
  • Act as our internal content leader by promoting new assets and educating the company with trainings and updates
  • Lead competitive research and sales enablement initiatives for product marketing
  • Partner with our design team to spearhead brand marketing efforts
  • Guide all video and multimedia content creation
  • Manage campaign data and content performance across the platform, GA, and Pardot
  • Oversee The Content Strategist and The Freelancer, our two digital publications
  • Oversee a team of managing editors, writers, and videographers as needed


 Who You Are

  • 6–8 years of editorial and content marketing experience 
  • 2–5 years’ experience developing, executing, and measuring content marketing strategies
  • An expert in content marketer and ability to write content for marketers
  • Strong communication skills and ability to be the internal and external voice of the brand
  • Experienced in SaaS marketing 
  • Desire to be a player-coach and get in the weeds of ideation and content creation
  • Able to lead, manage, and delegate multiple projects, and adapt to shifting priorities
  • Data-driven, results-oriented, team player with a hunger to succeed
