Last week, Google improved and blogged about their newest Page Layout Algorithm. In the post, they explained that this is just one of 500 algorithm updates in the upcoming year.

Most of their rollouts lately have helped our readers – whose content is usually pretty search-engine friendly –  but this one involves page layout, which is less clearly beneficial. Basically, the update penalizes websites that have too many ads above the fold. Luckily, this is supposedly only a problem in 1% of all global searches.
